Lithography is an ancient method of printmaking using typically oil or wax on the surface of a smooth, lithographic stone. The stone is treated with a mixture of acid, and the grease from drawing materials soaking into the pores of the stone creates areas where the grease then pools. Eventually, a paper is placed on the inked stone and pushed through a press, leaving a printed image on the fine art paper.
